Almost 600 dead this month in Iraq.
Bush said the Iraqi people would welcome us as liberators. When he landed on the aircraft carrier for his photo op and declared "mission accomplished", the Pentagon at that time said 30,000 to 40,000 troops would remain in Iraq by that fall. In December of last year we had 135,000 troops, and then in January of 2005, for the Iraqi elections, another 15,000 were added (you do the math.) None have come home (except those that have come home in a box.) Even a blind man can see what's happening here.
For those who have never done so, I strongly suggest getting a copy of the "Pentagon Papers" about our involvement in Vietnam and read it. ( I reread it about 6 months ago).
