Search in troubleshooting for "bang shift", as well as read the faq on contour.org's main page under "common problems" then "driveability"..
Also, a flashing O/D light can be scanned for codes, just like the CEL.. but I am not sure as to the life cycle of the code (not sure if it is "stored" like a typical CEL, or only for THAT particular start session...)

OD light flashes when internal slippage or overheated fluid (caused by slippage) is detected. Its a good idea to get it looked at right away and keep your speed down to prevent additional damage.
A code scan can help pin point your problem.

Once you turn off the ignition, you lose the code. There is tons of info in the transaxle forum as well by searching for O/D light flashing. Also follow Ray's advise mentioned above.

You wont lose the code but the PCM will clear from limp home (full line pressure mode) by cycling the ignition. It takes several ignition cycles for the code to clear.

ok i searched in troubleshooting for "bang shift" and in the other forums, i just see u telling other peoples to search in troubleshooting for "bang shift" and look under the main page for driveability. i also see people talking about some 1744 problem, wut is that? and also wut do u mean by CEL, wut exactly is that? on the main page under faqs - common problems - driveability, there isnt anything about the "bang shift".

Wow.. you searched! that is unusual, so thank you.
Try looking up posts on the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) or TSS (Transmission Speed Sensor).
A faulty sensor is rather common and can cause the harsh shifting.
