whoohoo

im now noticing a pretty audiable vacuum leak(pretty sure)- even inside the cabin.

i briefly tried to isolate where its coming from, and it was not successfull. than i tried listening around a bit with a piece of hose as stethascope also with no avail. im starting to wonder if it would be leaking from where the PCV valve plugs in.

im beginning to "think" i remember the gasket being kind of hardened maybe, and loose.

Would a PCV valve gasket cause good noise if it was leaking, and also cause my symptoms?

---
I also have to report an additional issue? - when accelerating fairly fast, when its in the top of 1st gear i notice the battery light come flickering on for a second...

only happens that ive noticed in the end of 1st, when its winding out right before it shifts.

wonder what this could mean?

Although I had only minor idle problems, there are two plasic accordian tubes, about 1/2" to 3/4" diameter on the fire wall. One plugs into the intake manifold & the other to some device on the fire wall. I found a crack/hole in one of those - on the inside part of a bend. I never would have found those holes unless I was specifically looking for them. In fact, I did miss them on the first inspections. I replaced them with regular old vac tubing. It helped the idle & also got rid of my lean code.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

im wondering if someone can answer me this.->

on the 2 liter zetec, does the intake manifold gasket supposed to span and seal all the way to the edge in the area thats bolted directly under the EGR valve bracket?

it appears as if the very edge isint sealed properly( that is, if its a critical area, it is on the very edge - not sure) - but i definately didnt get to check for leaks with fluid in this area, since it was buried.

it could be the root of my issue.
