I have the originals on VHS, the Remastered DVD's, and # 1 and # 2 on DVD but will still buy the 1,2,3 set when it comes out...Maybe all six if they come out in a bundle...Cause you know extras will be on the full set!!

I have the official widescreen dvds as well as my beloved original, non-special edition dvds(laserdisc transfers).
The sound on the official A New Hope dvd has a problem with the remasterting of some of the vocals. At one point they can sound crisp and clear and soon after sound muffled. The most obvious place to spot it is Tarkins "you prefer a military target" line. I havent noticed any audio problems on the other two movies.
The picture looks great on all three movies. It does look like they pushed the color up a little too high on A New Hope. Still, it looks outstanding considereing its almost a 30 year old film.

I got it. Going to watch it on my rescue squad's flat and wide screen HDTV. It looked sooo cool while watching Return of the King. It is nice to acutally get full use of progressive scan DVD players.

have you ever watched it (or any other DVD) with an HDMI connection?
Saving Private Ryan is a TOTALLY different movie on an HDMI connected HD screen!

It's possibility the animated characters were recorded during a different session (and a bit louder)
You could also check your system. If you have a separate reciever, you could set up the speaker distances differently. I had mine set wrong and when I adjusted them the voices were fine.
I have the original VHS tapes somewhere, I also have the remastered tapes. I have only Episode II on DVD, because I heard about said complete installment to go on sale.
