A couple of months ago I had to have my clutch replaced. A leak developed right afterward. I thought it was a leaking shaft seal or something else on the tranny. Turns out it is coming out of the boots on the steering box. Could the mechanic have damaged the those seals when he dropped the tranny? Can I, legitimately, hold the shop responsible for this?
Thanks for any advice.

Not likely. The seal that matter are somewhat internal. Those outer bellows arn't really seals, they just keep road debris off the shafts.
