Well lucky me I went out to the car later in the evening after the sun went down and it cooled off and sure enough mine shut just fine. Worked 100% fine the rest of the night too. I came across a few posts during my search yesterday that mentioned the same situation. I'm guessing some metal parts in there heated up enough to expand and bind the works up. It's closed now and since it's supposed to rain here again this weekend it'll stay that way.
Oh well, anyway glad the gear is coming anyway as it seems to be an inevitable failure anyway.
