50 miles on brand new rods? or 50 miles on a rebuild engine with reused old rods? I should have asked: Anyone heard of a spun bearing with less than 20,000 miles on the rods?

Yeah becuase you didn't prime the oil pump and dead crank your engine first! Starting a new, dry engine and having it instatly rev to 3500rpms USUALLY fuggs things up!

Your data-point is null and void!

LMAO:

Whenever I see that "I kid, I kid" I just think of EuroTour or Todras saying it and it cracks me up.

The whole point about if it were an oiling issue...would cause bearings to fail driving it home is not correct. Think about...
We aren't talking about the crank, rods, and bearings sitting in a dry position...it's an occasional loss of lubrication that causes the problem over time. Many right hand turns, draining issue on high rpms. It doesn't happen all at once. Just like a bearing will wear down and then spin. You can run your motor for a while with low oil before it will actually break.

How can someone completely discount an oiling problem? Just because it doesn't happen the second you start the car?

I've been using the Spec slave cylinder that came with my clutch, two years this may. I pulled it all out last year and examined everything when I did the mods to my turbo manifolds and I had no issues.
Maybe not all the spec slaves are bad.

All metals have elasticity to some degree, however; the powder metal rods are likely to have less flex than a comparable forged rod.
VERY VERY unlikely that it is stretch. I would to think that if the bearing spun then the oil film got too thin at some point for some reason. It could be the clearance was too wide for the oil feed, it could have been air, it could have been that the clearance was too tight for the oil viscosity used.
What about the pistons? Do they have a moly coating? Is there any side thrust that can cause the rods to press a little to hard laterally?
You see there may not be only one right answer.
