You have a 2.5 pan that fits the 3L. I missed where we modified a 3L Taurus pan in order for the tranny to bolt up. You have one simlar to the one on the right if not the same one.
I must have gotten 3L pan and "upgraded" pan confused as interchangable. The one on the right looks like what I received.

35k on my hybrid, and it's still going strong in another NECO member's car. Never ONCE got high on the RPMs while turning right, never put less than 6 qts of oil in it, revised baffle, old oil pan. Mobil 1 5W-30 since its 1000 mile break-in (new rebuild). I'm going to defer on the cause- It may be either. Figure I'll leave it at that before I pontificate my foot right into my mouth...

for the record the rods were the ones that came with the 3L
on a side note, i vaguely remember a thread about torque specs being different in different model years for the rod bolts? maybe that has something to do with it....
