From what I remember about Openview is as follows:

It's a single software "solution" ( I HATE that word... ) that has LOTS of extras. Extras such as Remedy modules for ticketing systems, BMC Patrol integration modules, Cisco modules and such.

1) Depends on the number widgets you need. It's a rather large number, plus, a support contract is generally negotiated with it. So, depending on how many and the level of support needed, it COULD range from $20k up to hundreds of thousands, not to mention re-occurring support agreements and such.

2) Again, it depends on what you need. Each module/widget/whatever comes with its own licensing agreement. In your case, sounds like you'd just need one instance of Openview to handle whatever you need for all 5 areas.

3) HP Openview products

Most of your networking equipment (and some systems) can/will use SNMP, so the SNMP agent would cover that. There are Oracle plugins, UNIX plugins, etc. There are also third party plugins that I mentioned above.

Hope this helps... I'm sure someone else that has used Openview within the last 4 years will chime in. It's been so long since I've used it...
