It's not for me, but for my brother-in-law...I guess they're offering him $1,200 to remove dents, strip his paint, and repaint the car a different color. I'm wondering if anyone has ever used them and what are your thoughts. I just advised him that they offer a 4 year warranty and to not trust the paint beyond that. You get what you pay for, but he's trying to keep the cost real low. Any other suggestions??? What about In-&-Out or Earl Scheib? Thanks ------------------ P eace! I've had years of great experience with Maaco but I just had my Tour repainted and it came out really crappy! When the paint started to peel four months later, they offered only to repaint the parts that were obviously damaged! It's plainly f$$king obvious they did a crap job of prepping the car if it's already peeling, but they won't lift a finger. There are about 40 flaws in the hood alone! and they call that normal! I paid $1700 for the paint - wasted money.

My dad was a professional painter for 24 years. He says stay away from MAACO. Something you do when you want the car to look nice to sell the car (scandalous). If you want to keep costs down, prep the car yourself.

Always look for a good local body shop with a good reputation. I had a guy that painted a Vet at Maaco and within 4 months the painted was peeling off everywhere. They end up in lawsuits quite often.

You have heard that old saying "You get what you pay for"... that is more often true than not... if its a lot cheaper than most, there is a reason... Personally, I would rather give my money to a local guy who runs his shop on reputation not on advertising... I say support those local businesses

I have a friend who used maaco and not only did the car look like orange peel it made it hard to sell the car. I think the biggest problem with them is that they don't grind away the old paint before they prime and paint, they just rough it with some sand paper. You'll see what I mean when the paint peels off and your old color comes back.

Wierd, I had my old 1982 Celica GT painted by Maaco during a $250 special, and it looked GREAT, and they filled in some rust spots with fiberglass.. I had the car for another 18 months before I sold it, and it was flawless (besides a little overspray on the bumper, no biggie).. I saw my car about 2 years later and it still looked good.
However, a good shop costs some big bucks.. Depends on what you're looking for really..
