I'm getting my motorcycle license in 2 weeks, and plan on just getting a beater for a few years. I'm not quite going to jump into the bigger cc's like you though. I'm not saying it's a stupid decision, I've just heard from many very experienced friends that the best way to really learn how to ride is to start on a small bike, learn how to handle and mess with it, then just upgrade your way up to the larger cc's. They tell me that through this progression, the skill level between a rider on a 1,000 cc bike that progressed through bikes, rather than just starts on a bike over his level, is night and day. But either way, SWEET bike!
