I am the second owner of a 2000 Contour Sport. It's generally the only one I ever see. But from time to time, I see others around, and I notice that they all have some slick-looking side skirts that mine doesn't. I'm assuming that they were probably some optional equipment the original owner felt he didn't need, but I wouldn't mind having them. If this is true, does Ford still sell them, or are there any aftermarket sources where I could pick up a pair? And since I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment, how much would they set me back? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, Ford will still sell them.. and they are OEM equipment..

Some options for you:
NEW:
Steve
Tousley Ford
White Bear Lake, MN
1-800-328-9552
(Mention an "SVT" plan to receive a SUBSTANTIAL discount. ...40-60%!! You don't need to own an SVT)

Or also try Signature Lincoln Mercury, and speak with Bill Jenkins (mention CEG for a discount!!! his website and number are in the "Parts Sources" faq under general modifications.

You can do a number of things:
Pick up the SE rocker panels and they will look exactly like they do on the cars you see.

You can also grab the SVT skirts and they will look more aggressive, but will not line up very well unless you want to put a front and rear SVT bumper on the car as well (which adds significant cost)

If you want to go used, you could try your local junkyards for a matching paint color, or any color and have them sprayed to match for relatively cheap.

Also, check the classifieds (link on the top of every page) under "for sale" for people parting out SE's(sport editions) and see if they have any skirts for sale.

Good luck, and great job wanting to mod your car... its a bug that bites hard, and you won't be able to stop!!!

Ray

I would really just like to thank Ray for an informative and helpful post. He answered the question completely without even mentioning the word "search!"

I'll tell you what.. search..

there, is that better? LOL

Seriously, though: I will tell you a secret.

Sometimes... depending on the topic... (and the phase of the moon)... all it takes is a concise, well written question to make anyone want to help.

When I start reading topics like "how do you..", I start thinking "How do I WHAT!!!!?????".. then the thread inside states "find a bumper for your car, yo? MY CAR IS RECKED AND I WANT TO BUY a bumper what do i do".

I start TRYING to decipher meaning from an incoherent, poorly written post and on top of that, its a common question.. It's just simpler to tell them to search. Human nature: You want to help those who help.. and you are nice to those who are nice..

This guy wanted to help.. he gave me the question, relevant information (model, etc), a price range, and it was all written in English (with punctuation and capitalization, even!!!) . I couldn't help but answer him!

lol

^^^^^what ray said...

BTW...when you call or look these things up, ask for "rocker moldings". There was a decent decrease in the factory pricing for 2005. I believe you can get these already painted from the dealer at the price that they used to be for unpainted.

Wow. I didn't expect so many posts, but thanks for all the advice! I figured they were OEM equipment, but I'll probably check out a salvage yard and see how much I can pull a pair for. Thanks again.

The Contour SE sideskirts were not made for the Year 2000. They were decontented that year.

Regardless, they will bolt right on, when pulled or purchased from any other year.
