Right on. Once you're in safe mode, go to control panel -> user accounts, and change the "family" account to an administrator account. Sounds like that might be the problem...if it still doesn't work, you can run system restore in safe mode as administrator, but this is a hassle you'll still want to correct. Post here if it doesn't work and we'll go through some more steps.


As far as your second problem, i've had the C: drive change letters on me as well. I would up formatting and reinstalling, but as long as that's your root drive - any programs installed should install to F:\something. It sounds more like either your disc is scratched, or your cdrom is going bad. If you have a spare one lying around, try it out. Also, if you have more than one cdrom in your computer, some programs that require a cd will only run from the cdrom drive you installed it from (IE: D:, or E:)
