Well here is the problem, my third gear is grinding horribly when I drive, at first I just shifted really slowly into third, it helped a little, now I skip 3rd gear all the time, the car drives fine but I don't know how good this is for the tranny. I did a search and read the transaxle forum like 3 times, but each time I get more confused So I was wondering if anyone has done this or is thinking about it.. I want to get a new clutch, new third gear synchro and maybe a new shift tower.. these things I do understand I need but the rest of the stuff I don't have any idea if I need to do or don't need to.. I think I might as well do the other synchros too.. Has anyone any ideas on cost in mississauga/gta in doing this or a reliable shop that has experience on how to do it right the first time?? Chris any help appreciated? I know you have a LSD in your svt.. Any ideas or help appreciated.. I wonder how long the car can last.. I'm hoping it drives forever before I have to do the work, but an idea on how expensive this would be helpful. Cheers & sorry for the long post. Martin

I am very interested in this as well. I have been pricing out getting a Torsen LSD and Spec stage 1 pressure plate and clutch combo. I also want to upgrade my shifter forks, syncros and tower. I have been considering contacting Terry Heins in Michigan to do my tranny. My plan was to drive the car there and basically wait for it to be done then drive home.
Having said that a little while back a noob (TimsTour) had his tranny done at a shop in KW or Guelph area. He was very happy with the results, I don't remember if it was an ATX or MTX though. Unfortunately he has not been here in a while so I don't know how it held up.

Rob, Tim is online from time to time. Send him a pm and I'm sure he'll respond within a couple of days. He has a ATX. Honestly if you want it done right I say Terry would be the way to go.

Any canucks here had it done at Terry's?
How much did cost after all was said and done? Any duty for shipping it back?
I'd be tempted to drive it down there and pick it up when it's done. Just to save on the shipping. It's nice having two cars(GF's soon to be Sunfire).

Take some vacation time and stay there while it's being done, I don't know if Terry lets people watch but I would love to learn a few things.

There is a tranny shop used by the local Ford dealers, I just don't have the name for it. It'b been a while, but just before I bought my SVT, the previous owner had the 3rd gear issue, lucky for me that it got rebuilt before I took owndership, lucky for him that he had a full extended warranty. I wish I knew where this place is, because, despite the little I drive my SVT, I don't drive it easy, and especially with extra HP now, I am very happy to say that the transmission is holding up.
Now, when I had the LSD installed, it was done through TAG Motorsport in Oakville. They shopped the tranny out to a place in Oakville. Maybe you want to contact them and see if they can refer you to the tranny shop.
As far as the rest of the stuff you are looking to do, the LSD, clutch and flywheel, if you can afford it, is one of those might as well situations. You can do it all at once, pay a big sum one time, rather than 3 large sums to do each job one at a time.
