I was thinking about putting an exhaust on my SVT. I am going to cut out the resonator and put in a round 20" magnaflow and then cut the rear mufflers off and put tips on. I have found a website where i can get all of it shipped to me for $111. My main question is do you think it will be too loud w/ a straight through round muffler or should i look into getting an offset 20" muffler??? thnx

I dont think it would be to loud with a straight-thru resinator...specially a 20" one.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

How loud is too loud? That's too subjective to be worth much. Where do you live? Perhaps people near by you can let you hear their system's volume in person at an upcoming meet. But one resonator only with tips might be OK to some, too loud to others.

So you guys are thinking it'll have a nice rumble but not too loud. I'm just looking for a good sound, i don't want it to sound like i threw a [censored] muffler or somethin on it.

I ran a similar set-up for about 4 weeks. Too much for my taste, went in and reinstalled mufflers. Actual progression was:

Stock with straight pipe to SVT mufflers = decent, but drony

Sho y-pipe + hi flow cat, straight pipe to SVT mufflers = super bark on start-up, raspy until warm, heavy drone in cabin

Added Maganflo res, removed mufflers = deep burble at idle, minimal drone at speed, doggy drone around town

Added SVT mufflers back into the mix = nice burple at idle, lower cabin drone, nice compression note on engine braking. Finally able to seperate subwoofer from exhaust.

(Yes Stazi!) I am a believer, and will be replacing the stock SVT mufflers with either Magnaflo's or Dynamax, just want to hear some example before I invest.

Hey Paul go here:

http://www.contour.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=perf&Number=933659&Forum=perf&Words=austin&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=6months&Main=932919&Search=true#Post933659

I heard Austin's car in person the day Stazi took the pics and vids. It sounded awesome. I believe he had the stock svt sytem with magnaflow resonator and the magnaflow racing series mufflers. IIRC, he also had the weapon R headers, not sure if he has a optimized y. Unfortunately, the vids don't justify hearing it in real, but it gives one a good idea.
