If your going to shift at 2K RPM all day than why are you driving a V6 Contour. Especially an SVT. These engines are designed to run at high RPMS! You may as well go buy something with a low-rev pushrod engine.

I usually try to keep my engine ABOVE 2000 while driving since there's just about no power below there anyways.
