Remember, shifting too low and "crusing" at 25mph's in 4th or 5th gear is not all that cool in the car either... problems with oil pressure.
It's really personal preference when you shift.
I think the ATX shifts around 2800 into 2nd.
Most MTX people shift around 3200 RPM's for maximum fuel efficiency and best acceleration in "normal" driving conditions... which seems to not exist according to some of your posts.
0-60 for your Contuour Sport MTX Duratec (I assume) is about 8.9 sec with a good driver and fast reaction time.
