Good Lord, that's one post I do remember well. My fingers are still bleeding from trying to keep up with all the lines cast out in that one...

Godspeed; he was a fun one to duel with. I'm quite honored and humbled that I managed to provide some measure of entertainment (and maybe some measure of aggrivation) to such an individual.

I have a dinner this weekend, so rest assured I'll raise a glass and toast his name even though I only knew him through his correspondance here. My grandfather (mother's father) was a WWII vet as well (navigator on a B-17 that flew out of East Anglia) and passed on to skies unknown over a decade ago; his tutelage on all things left a large impression on me.

Regardless of political stripes, most WWII vets hold a special place in my heart and mind and his absence makes the world a lesser place to live in.

Here's to hoping Major Barnes and his better half have met again to continue their lifelong affair in more peaceful and serene surroundings.
