Hey guys...
I just picked up a 1998 Contour SE that came with a Ford OEM CD player. I already have another 1998 SE which I drive daily, but this one has a Ford OEM Cassette player/AM/FM radio. Since I am not driving the car with the CD player, I decided that I would swap the radios temporarily so I could listen to CDs in my daily driver.

I pulled both radios out and then realized that my plan had been thwarted by Ford engineers. One connector on the back of the radio is the same, but the second connector is different. The CD player has a square plug, while the cassette player has a flat retangular plug. What the heck? Is there any way to get this CD player into the car that had the tape deck? I can't listen to the radio anymore, I'm going insane!!!

Thanks guys!

my guess would be no i don't know for sertain since my car only hat the am/fm cassete itself but its been said the the cd players have an external amp under the glove box sso unless you take out the amp and go through alot of stuff thats not worth it no

but what you can do is find a cheap cd player headunit if your low on cash there getting cheaper and it will sound better than the stock unit i recoment pioneer if you can afford it

that way both your cars will have a cd player oh and replacing the stock ford casset player with a aftermarket head unit is very easy

Weird. I would have thought it was the same connector. And I don't think he wants to drop the cash on a CD player deck plus the wiring harness.

The Ford CD player has no internal amps.

You need an external amplifier to use it.
