o.k., thanks for putting my mind at ease about the pads vs. edge of rotor. Iprobably have ~200 miles on new pads. I listed everything that I did, and nothing I didn't do, in my post above. I cleaned my guide pins with Brakleen and a rag, they looked great, except for the tiny area where the pin is exposed to the elements, right next to the threads. I figured that wouldn't be a problem.
