Sal, women can't help it. They are hard-wired to play hard to get. It is part of our mammalian genes. Just look at how a female cheetah makes her suitors chase her across the veldt. It is nature's way of ensuring that only a fit and steadfast male gets a chance at the female.
OK, back to modern America. Women makes us chase them for a lot of good reasons. First of all, they want to make sure we value them enough to pursue them for awhile. So even in modern times, it helps women to sort out the one-night-stand guys from the real suitors. It also gives them a chance to see our stuff; meaning, it gives them a chance to see how we react to a little adversity. If you get all bent out of shape, or if you wander away with your tail between your legs, they have learned something about you without having become vulnerable to you. See?
So give women a break. They are easily hurt; give them that space they need. Let them hold you off for as long as they need to. Use that time to show them how calm, cool and funny and mature you are. If she holds you off too long, move on.
