Dogs are bred for various traits; Pit Bulls have historically been bred specifically for some of thier decidedly uncivilized traits; as have some other breeds of course. Anyone who denies this fact is a blind fool.
That said, I do not believe any particular breed should be banned. I believe dog owners should be held more responsible for the behavior of thier animal. Any one that does not have thier animal appropriately restrained (each breed and each specific animal would have different needs) should be responsible for the actions of that animal, whether it be a Pit Bull or Pomeranian. and God help the person that under-estimates their animal's capability for dangerous behavior.
