Exhaust System, Section 3:28

Every motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine shall at all times be equipped with an exhaust system which is in good working order and in constant operation. No vehicle shall be equipped with a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device which would produce excessive smoke or gas, or permit
any chemical to flow into or upon the exhaust pipe or muffler. No vehicle shall be equipped in any other way to produce or emit smoke or dangerous or annoying gases, other than ordinary gases emitted by the exhaust of an internal combustion engine under normal operation. No motor vehicle, including motorcycles, shall be equipped with an exhaust system which would produce any excessive or unusual noise. All motorcycles
must be equipped with mufflers having baffle plates as required by law. Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with a standard muffler for that type of vehicle or one that meets all the requirements above.

combined with your earlier statement that you purchased the car in this state from a reputable dealer suggest to me you may have a solution. in my uninformed opinion.

This no aftermarket exhaust thing is a crock of [censored]. As long as its in working order as mentioned above, and should have cats , and the noise isnt to loud , then your good.

by all technicalities, you are legal. the exhaust system you have was made for the type of car you drive. (just an svt). plus the added mufflers were designed to fit that system, so therefore you are not sol or fkd ovr, just bend the laws to your own situation.

Most BS stop & ticket I've seen posted on this site. Is it even really loud? I could see you getting a ticket for noise but illegal aftermarket exhaust.

I once had a friend who got stopped and given a real hard time about his tint and exhaust. they pulled out a razorblade and made him remove his tint, which he actually did. then they pulled out a hacksaw and said the exhaust was next. he said "see you in court" and left.

no matter what, fight it, I can see a lot of judges saying "uh, this is bull...next case"

I'm guessing it was a local cop? Call your closest highway patrol post, they'd be able to answer your question. Although, I'd probably leave out the part where you got ticketed so they don't cop an attitude...no pun intended. Just present it as you're considering replacing your mufflers w/ a lower cost alternative, dropping off a box of donuts may also be helpful.

Well to answer your questions, the mufflers are prolly equal to the stock system if not quieter! it is more mellow, but deff deff! not louder at all. Ive posted this on like 3 forums, everybody thinks its rediculous. yes it was a columbus local cop, obviously he was bored out of his mind sitting there clocking so he decided to have some fun and ticket me. this whole idea is crazy "all aftermarket exhaust systems are illegal!!!" pfff
