when you post anything about your car being for sale. even though you're just talking about the car and the fact that it's on ebay...and why is it locked?
when did the term "general" take on exclusions?
let's vote to change it to "General (Except when we feel like it's not general, and then it gets closed)"
that generally makes me upset. look at my reg. date: may 2000...i'm not a newbie here.
i can't keep this in the classifieds, because it's on ebay; not in the classifieds.

I dont know, I guess some people feel general is not general enough to cover generally most topics. But that is just my general idea on the situation. Oh well. Carry on....

I think the problem is listing for sale items. Ebay or not, many for-sale posts get the AX.

...and AXing posts is a generally bad idea. they should be filtered. because posting something like "see my car in the classifieds" is different than "see my car on ebay". we don't generally put one thing in two places on one site (ie. classifieds and forums), but ebay is diff.

You're 'not just talking' about the car, you're promoting the fact that it's on eBay and you want maximum exposure. No harm in that, but in theory, that's a 'for sale ad'. If we were to to let this happen, we'd have posts like this every day... "hey, check out my car, it's on eBay". that generally makes me upset. look at my reg. date: may 2000...i'm not a newbie here. No, you're just generally upset because you haven't sold your car yet. Am I right? i can't keep this in the classifieds, because it's on ebay; not in the classifieds. Come on Jon, you could have posted something a little more thought provoking than that. Just my $.02 John

OMG. John, generally i'll have to give you just a penny on that one. No .02 for that comment. Sure, i'm upset it hasn't sold, because some people aren't very good ebay'ers, but it's still pretty dumb to close a post because of that. So what if i promote the car here? who wouldn't. if posts like that litter the general forum, it's ok, its a GENERAL forum, for lots of things. my point is that it's not fair to close out stuff in general because it can't be moved to a diff. forum...especially just because someone else "thinks" that it doesn't belong there. in theory, this is the general forum, right?
generally, jon
btw john that doesn't change my opinion of you i think you are a great dude, i really ranting here...so don't take anything like it's aimed at you.

Don't think anybody closed a post because the car didn't sell. But I know what you mean. So what if i promote the car here? who wouldn't. Everybody does, but they don't promote it because it's for sale... I see your argument, but I don't think it will fly w/ Lance. Too much of a generalization. btw, john that doesn't change my opinion of you i think you are a great dude, i really ranting here...so don't take anything like it's aimed at you. I wouldn't think so, I never locked your posts. John

General Contour, Mystique, and Mondeo discussions Nowhere do I see selling your car (or the fact that it is listed on eBay) fitting in this category. Really, the only place that any type of sale topics have been allowed to fly are the local forums, and that depends on the moderator's attitude about those types of threads and the particular thread itself. So, quit whining, post your sale ad in the Classifieds (with a link to your eBay page, that's not too hard is it?), and maybe your local forum.

alright, let's just be DONE with this and my final comment:
i just think more care should have been excercised in closing my post. just because you can lock them, doesn't mean you should.
end of story...and thanks to all who calmed me down (thx JVT)
