Check underneath the shifter boot (leather boot literally "pops" out of the hole it sits in. Remove shift knob, pull boot off... look at the two linkages that connect to the shifter there.
Also.. look in the engine bay, behind the battery location, and slightly toward the center of the car.. there are both linkages that connect to the bellhousing there, as well... one has a black connector on it, and the other is orange (IIRC)..
could have come undone there, as well.
