I will defer to the mechanic who has reported that he has seen this before.

I'd suspect that a wiring harness fault in or near the junction box is causing stray voltage due to insulation failure and a resulting short circuit.

well, I've had the wiring harness replaced a few years ago when the car started stalling on me. That was a major head ache trying to figure out what the problem was with a FORD Dealership. But anyway, the WH was replaced.

As soon as my 2000 Windstar SEL has it's trany replaced (53,000 miles and it died) I plan to get my car in for this fix.

My mechanic seem to think it's the Box or the relay itself. He told me he has replaced five of these boxes this past year.

Do you think the new harness has cracked like the old one did?



'96 Oxford White Mercury Mystique "Spree" 2.5L V6, 4 speed ATX Bought it new. Have had a million problems with it... but when it runs it's fun to drive. Over 100K miles so far and still going (fingers crossed). At least it still looks new!
