i used a 2001 CD4E in my 97 contour, and it worked perfectly fine.. accually it was so much better than the 97 model. i had sonnax valves and a shift kit installed in the tranny, along with a high stall torque convertor.

ran great till the torque convertor got all messed up (went with a no-name company to have it modded)

Where did you get the CD4E from? How much without the TC?

You just gave the perfect reasoning right there...I wouldn't call those minor modifications. Especially for someone with my mechanical ability or anyone else with less knowledge of the zetec engines.

I am not doing this swap btw so that is another reason why. I have never done an engine/tranny swap and don't think that is something I could accomplish...especially with no help.

well LKQ has some for sale for $275 on ebay with some decent mileage. However they came from automatic contours. What/if any modifications will need to be made for this to mate up to an MTX-75?

I didn't think it would matter but I just want to make sure.

Good question. I wonder what the ATX -> MTX swap guys have done.

To make an ATX engine work on a MTX you will need to swap the bell housing alignment dowels from the old MTX to the new motor as they are a different size. You will also need to swap the crank position sensor bracket. It is crucial that you swap the BRACKET itself as the brackets are different but the sensor is the same. If you don't swap the bracket the engine won't start.

ATX MTX swap, rear drum disc swap, drilled rotors, ported intake, optim throttle body, CAI, 7.5L MAF, adj. fuel regulator, longtube headers, underdrive pulley, no EGR, low inpedence bigger injectors, 2002 Focus Swap
