Yes, you need to support the engine from above. You will also have to support the radiator somehow. The radiator is held in with supports that bolt to the subframe.
You will also have to take the exhaust apart. Take the y-pipe and Cat out. You have to also undo the shift cables.
When you take the line off the clutch slave cylinder you need to have something there to catch the fluid. Over a day or two it will all leak out of the master cylinder.
It might be obvious, but got to say it - you should take the wheels off to get to everything.
You do also have to remove the sway bar ends from the shocks. The sway bar is connected to the subframe.
I found that the bolts that hold the steering rack to the frame are very tight and hard to get to. I un-did the hoses and pulled the rack out with the subframe. I might try undoing the rack and install it first this time. It is very hard to get very thing in place with the lines and all on the subframe.
The starter is on top of the tranny and will need to come out also. The starter wiring is a little tricky to get at.
Finally do not forget to unplug the speed sensor.
