1744 TC slip is exactly that, the PCM calls for TC lock up (or some percentage of lock up) and the TC locks. The TSS and engine RPM are compared for the speed, gear ratio and percentage of lock up. Any deviation (slippage) is detected and after a set amount of time (with slippage) a code is set. I doubt that changing the TSS will correct your problem (1744) but for under $30 bucks and some swearing it cant hurt.

Also be advised that if it is TC slippage you will need to replace the TC and reman the VB (with updates) to fix it.

A good scanner that can display engine RPM and TS speed would be helpful as well as a road test with a gauge connected to the TC tap.
