Hey everyone, a buddy of mine has a sister that is selling her 99(or atleast I think it's a 99) Cougar. It's black, 5 speed, 2.5L that appears to be in pretty nice shape. The car is right at 100k miles. I think she's asking $4900 right now. Can any of the Cougar guys chime in and let me know what the going rate is, for a Cougar with those miles? I'd love to get into a different daily driver!
Thanks!
Mark

Teal Sunbird's rule mang! Don't blame ya. That seems a little high to me for 4999 though. 100k mark & resale goes in the crapper. 4k maybe.
EDIT- KBB.com says private party sale is 4100 for good condition, 3550 for fair. I'm awesome!

You da man Todd!! Now, I just need to find some unsuspecting kid to buy this Gheyyy Teal Sunbird off of me. If the Cougar runs good and is in good shape, I think I'll offer $4k. It atleast has the nicer polished wheels on it Mark

If that's the kind of car you want, shop around first. $4K is high for one of them. I wouldn't go for more than $3.5K unless it is in exceptional condition and you have service records(or at least know the service history of it). At the auction (which I know most of you don't have access to) a 99 with that mileage would sell for about $1.5K to $2K so $3.5 for a private sale would be reasonable. From a dealer that would have to make it pass inspection and recondition it(but they don't have to warranty it if it's over 100K) you can expect to pay $4k-$4.5K just because of the added over head.
Parting out 95-97 Contours/Mystiques. Contact me directly at ALFIGOLS@yahoo.com if you're looking for a particular part.

I'm really not looking for anything in particular. I just figured I'd ask people who are in the know about the Cougars. My reasons for interest are:
1: I have knowledge on the 2.5L(Duratec) platform. 2: It's a 5 speed and black 3: Beats the hell out of driving a teal Sunbird.
