this is true. i've saved a couple and i always end up around 24k (withuot nav, i think it looks too kooky). but these aren't going to be run-of-the-mill cars like the old Mini's or the new beetle. production is only around 12,000 for this year, with about half of those being the 'S' version. and with so many variations in exterior/interior, nav/no-nav, leather/cloth/leatherette, sunroof, no sunroof, the chance of a neighbor having the same car is slim to none.

and besides, you get to take it to a BMW dealer for service. so, they have to treat you just like the 7 series land yacht owners.

we're essentially talking about a small bimmer with 163 HP, weighing about 2700 lbs, 17 inch wheels, multi-link rear suspension, 6 speed manual, big sunroof, leather, and room for 4 (kind of).

sounds like a sweet deal to me.
