Subaru has no intention of fleet sales for AVIS, Hertz, and Alamo a la Ford and the Contour. Maybe not an SVT, but still fleet sales and still a Contour. Everybody has Mustangs, and F-Bodies, and Type-R's, and GSX's, are they $hitty cars? The rationale is lacking. Further, the Japanese spec car is putting out close to 300hp with basically the same trans. Further, there are quite a few Scoobs droopping 250 to the wheels in the stock box with no build-up? Your point? Again, I'll point out I walked out the door at $22K with a trade on a mostly beat 95LX. $22k for a car that will work over 99% of all the Contours in the world. Make sure you check you production facts before showing me Demon's #'s and David Z's numbers etc etc. For a whopping total of 15 cars that I have to worry about of the Contour world. And I'm still stock!!!! Thank you OCartman for pointing out the positives of the car. If you want a luxo-sedan buy a Maxima, or an IS300, or an Altima or a Jetta GLX... Also, the 2.0L is to conform with the WRC limitations for the racing class. They could use a bigger motor, but the homologation class would change. BTW, tell that displacement joke to the next S2000 you run across. This is so beat....the argument always changes so that the SVT won't lose, but in fact it usually will. Thanks for listening to the rant. Ed

Supposedly, an AWD Focus is coming for 2005, since the WRX has heated up the sales charts and the Mitsu EVO is coming too.
2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO. Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

BTW, tell that displacement joke to the next S2000 you run across. Is this for me??? Hey I did not start this I was responding to FluidSVTs comments about the boost he has and the Contour "weak ass transmission" crack... And I was not insulting the displacement, rather "joke" refered to the lack of power WITHOUT the turbo or "turbo dependence". S2000 does NOT suffer from that! But hey, WRX has GOT a turbo so its a moot point. Personally, I have owned a turbo (MR2), driven several and have come to prefer the throttle response and linear nature of N/A motors even if they lack some of the brute power after spoolup. Like with its "unusal" appearance it comes down to personal preference. WRX represents a different choice in the auto market and I applaud the "difference" it brings.

Blue, what was your car's list price? That is the figure I use to make value comparisons. The reductions due to bargaining and a trade in would apply to any car.
My issue is why must I choose between sport and luxury? I may find fault with with the WRX for lacking features, but I find just as much fault with the Maxima, Jetta, and the like for being too soft. The IS300 comes close, but fatal flaws make it impossible for me to buy.
When it comes down to it, compared to cars of its day, the SVT Contour provided an unmatched level of performance, amenities, style, practicality, and value with very few compromises. That is what makes it a vehicle that has not been matched since. Other cars may surpass it in one facet or another, but no car gives as much in one area without taking away more in another.
When I have a car that gives it all to me now, why should I settle for a compromise?

i still like the mini better anyways... the mini kicks a$$, plus it doesn't cost a lot of $$$. I've convinced my girlfriend to make it her first car if she ever buys one. Maybe I should think about being a car salesman.

i still like the mini better anyways...[/b]i think the coupe looks pretty good but I wouldn't touch the 4 door with my 10 inch pole. I'm looking forward to the release of the new Z but I think it's a little underpowered. Weren't the initial 0-60 times around 6 seconds? too slow for a z-car if u ask me... maybe thats changed though.

That car is so ugly.. I really can't understand why people are so gaga over it.[/b]I'm with Baco - the styling of the G35 Sedan doesn't do it for me, however I think the Coupe is absolutely gorgeous. How can you resist this pretty face?
