hey guys, i think i got a serious problem.... i was changing my sparkplugs and when i was putting my sparkplugs back one of them wont screw in the thing is worn out....i went to autoparts and bought the kit to repair it but i need some help on how to do it, do i just take the metal screw looking thing and drill in there or how do i do it, please post step by step if u know.....some guy said to buy a new head?? but i had the same problem before and my dad drilled with the thing and fixed it, he cant help me now because he is on a vecation and i need this fixed ASAP!

excuse me, but i thought i was having a problum. How did you manage to do that?

im guessing because teh engine was hot when i tryed to screw a new plug in...so the metal was easy to brake or something... i NEED HELP PLEASE ANYONE

The aluminum heads on the Duratec engine are incredibly pliable when hot. bad move.

If this "kit" is a tap/die set, then you would use the tab to "re-thread" your existing hole that has been stripped out. Make sure its straight, and then work your way through there (this is all corrolated from tapping OTHER holes, etc.. never done this to a head..


Give it a bit, night time is a little slow on CEG.. someone will surely answer by mid-day, tomorrow.. (you can't do this in the dark, either way! lol)

thanks Ray....i got time until tomorrow then i will have to try and fix it, i hope i dont screw it up even more......anyone else know anything about this?

This is not the kind of job that you try without experience. Call around to see if you can find a shop that has done this and knows how. If you mess it up, you will be looking at replacing the head. I know a few techs that can do this a do a quality repair and I know some that can't.
