Its not so much the bulb size, but the wattage. Make sure your wattage is 37W or less. I had the 885 50W bulbs and I decided to go back to the stock 893 37W bulbs because I do not want to run the risk of melting my fog lamps. In other words just stick with the stock wattage. You can get the 893 37W blue tint bulbs from autotoys which will give your foglights a bluish look.

I agree the light output difference between 37W and 50W bulbs is not noticeable enough to justify risking your fog lamps. If you want to improve your fog light output with the stock system, your best bet is to aim the fog lights up.
