That will get rid of them, right?
No, that will mean more of them driving without licenses and insurance. Then our insurance rates go up because our insurance compnies take the hit for all of the "illegals" that don't pay up for accidents.
Wow...Justification is great isn't it? You make anything look good...Even illegal activity...
I suppose since there are murderers we should get rid of the law on murder...
Nah, rather we tighten the law and make it harder for them. Strengthen the border...Ever heard of the Minutemen? Yep, going on right now...Search for it...
I don't disagree that we shouldn't make it harder for them to get here. But denying them licenses isn't going to do that. Do you really think they're going to sit on the other side of the border and go "Damn, I'd really like to cross this border illegaly, but I can't get a driver's license over there, so I guess I won't."
Of course not. They're going to come anyway. They're going to drive anyway. You might as well make sure that the ones driving at least do that part legally for the safety of everyone else on the roads.
My only problem with giving them driver's licenses is that once you have that, you can do pretty much anything you want, as it's a much more widely accepted form of identification than anything else. And, since you can't get insurance without a license, we're just going to have a bunch more uninsured drivers (not that many of them are anyhow, but it'll be even worse) on the roads too.
And the Murder Law analogy doesn't fit at all. Murder laws, specifically the fear of going to jail, prevent people from committed murder everyday. Lord knows murder would be a lot more common if it weren't illegal. A law preventing illegals from driving would do no such thing.
A more fitting analogy would be "If they're going to come anyhow, why not just open the borders and let them come". And, well, while I may not agree with it for security reasons that's a legitimate argument proposed by a lot of people.
