Anybody else go check out The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy this weekend? I've always been a big fan of Douglas Adams. It was good to finally see the movie come out.

Check out a revised version of the old Infocom game here.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

Edit: Agreed Majisto. The script was mostly written by Douglas Thomas anyway. It was not intended to be an exemplification of the book, but something similar and just as entertaining. I loved that ending scene as well. "Oh no, he shut the gate from the other side. Go around!"

Very good adaptation no matter what some "fans" might tell you. They're just mad that the movie is mainstream. It's Lord of the Rings syndrome. Marvin needed a bit more variation in his lines (He got a bit too close to Jar Jar status) but Zaphod and Ford were great. I loved the cheap, but simple animations for the guide, and who can forget Ford Prefect's towel? Chasing off the Vorgons with a towel is classic.

I went back again to see the movie, and I picked up quite a few jokes I did not catch first time through. The scene during the credits is classic. Please be sure to wait until half-way through the credits when they show a very funny clip that I believe comes from the beginning of the actual book. This is a great movie that needs to be seen more than once to experience the full effect. I don't want to see any bashing unless you have seen the movie more than once, or recorded it (I won't tell) and watched it over.

nah, they just left out too many of the great quotes. I understand they can't fit everything in a movie, but there were a few I missed dearly

"I had to check in a file cabinet, in the basement of the building, in an unused lavatory with a sign that said 'beware of jaguar'"

"Ford, your're turning into a penguin. Stop it."

I haven't read the books (yet, intend to read at least the first this summer) but my friends reference them all the time. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie - was the perfect break between studying Friday night.

I do have the radio station on MP3 ( link ). I'll have to listen to them sometime.
