Here's the trouble I've been having....My car keeps dying when I come to a stop or in Idle. I have recently had all the fluids flushed. I replaced my plug wires and I think my fuel filter was replaced about a year ago...I'm thinking it has something to do with the fuel system....Any suggestions would be great..Thanks! Check your IAC(Idle Air Control) valve. it sticks, and causes a loss of air at idle (not enough to keep it idling...)
On the ZETEC, the engine will be slightly different, but it will still be next to the throttle body, and air tubes.. and will look like the same part.
Look on the FAQ thread (under ZETEC maintenance, or perhaps on the MAIN page of contour.org (under FAQ, then Common Problems) for a how-to of removal and cleaning/replacing it..)

could possibly be something simple like your timing(correct me if im using the wrong word) could be off. Its connected to your throttle under the hood. It can be adjusted to make your idle/engine run slower or faster. If adjusted slightly it will make your car idle a tad bit faster i.e your car wont stall.

I'm sorry.. did you just say the words "simple" and "timing" in the same sentence?
FWIW: Idle is COMPUTER controlled.. and NOT adjustable..
Please don't lead this girl on a wild goose chase.. IAC is a COMMON culprit, and being a 98 it is possible to have accumulated many miles..

Any check engine lights?
Could be O2 sensor, vacuum leak or mass air meter.

To actually make this a meaningful post: This sounds a lot like the Idle Air Control. It was faulty on my '98 Escort and threw me a CEL for about 2 weeks before I realised it was merely lose. Tightened it down, no light. As for the maps...I need to figure out how to tap into Ray's computer and apply a "girl filter" so he never sees them coming. Then I can go back to doing my mildly entertaining job in peace and harmony. Good map, BTW. Like the Kalifornia and Idaho references, and mountains are definitely stupid but you forgot to hand write "SAV, GA" with that damned pencil thing that makes it a SAV map. -SAV

id say teh IAC , u can take it off and soak it in carbon cleaner or some type of cleaner like that and it should work
i guess its better than buying a new one unless u really want to
as a matter of fact thanks for reminding me , i have to clean mine out , my car has a small stumble at idle, im thinking this is my prob
