It was a very bad day, my engine I guess ââ?¬Ë?blew a rodââ?¬â?¢ or something like that ... all a saw was smoke and heard a lot of grinding noises. (if i didn't know better, that sounds like a bad night at the strip club)
But seriously, I was wondering if there was anyone in the Tampa area that has done the 3.0 swap or know of a shop that can do the 3.0 swap. The stealership wants 5300 at least to put another 2.5 in there. I have no idea what to do, suggestions? Thanks guys.

Dallas! That's some chit right there mangh. I think I JUST saw you a few weeks ago if you happened to still be in Savannah. I didn't catch the plate to see if it was from Maryland or not, so I'm not sure it was you. Blown engines are crap. Sad to say, I don't have any info just yet, but GL fixing it up. -Chris

Hey all, thank you for the quick responses.
Let me run this by everyone and see what they think ... I thinking of putting a svt 2.5 from a junk yard in there, apparently its got 25k miles on it. They want about 800 bucks.
By putting that engine in and getting rid of the cats by means of a full exhaust ... and this should last me about a year or two until I can get a daily driver.
Any suggestions? Thanks guys! Dallas

On this side of Florida, I get a very nice 3L with ~45,000 miles & a 1 year warranty for just over $500. The 3L is more common, so the supply is plentiful, which means lower prices than the 2.5. $800 might be a good price for a 2.5, but why bother if you can get a bigger, better engine for less. And the thing is, nobody would know, you can't tell the difference by just looking in the engine bay so get a 3L.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

So, as my disclaimer, I know nothing about cars or I know a little, but not too much.
There is a shop in Tampa that is reputable and suggested by several people in the area. If I told them I want the 3 liter, how hard would that be to put in. They already said they would be able to place it in the car, they were worried about the wiring harness and the computer. Is that included in that 3 liter, or do I have to find that somewhere else.
TourDeForce, where did you get that engine with the year warranty? You statement about the bigger and better sounds great. I would love to have the 3 liter, I just need to find one.
Thank again!
Dallas
Hey Chris, that was probably me that you saw. I dont think there are any more CSVT around, although I did see a T-red one the other day, it was out of state. Ill be in Savannah for a couple more week then down to Tampa I go, yuppie!

I have that info on my computer at work, I'll contact you tomorrow via PMs. As for wiring & such, the 3L is close to bolt on if you don't change any components. Your stock intake, exhaust, & everything else should fit just fine, or you may be able to use the 3L intake manifold.
There will be only a few minor mods needed if you pick the right engine. One of the senders will need the hole drilled & tapped for a larger sender from your car & there is one mounting tab on the 3L that is not used in our car that will need to be ground out of the way. Otherwise, straightforward swap. You definately need to educate yourself a little more before you tackle this swap, mistakes can be made so protect yourself with knowledge. One person recently jumped in a little early & bought the WRONG 3L engine. A little research & a few questions could have saved a lot of time & $.
Best thing you can do for yourself is to visit http://www.buckshotmotorsports.com/3literhome.htm for the 3L FAQ section, and check out the 3L forum on this site. READ, READ, READ! Lots of good info. When you're done you'll have a very good idea of what you'll need.
Additionally, my car will be heading for the bone yard in the next few days. I'll try to find out where it's going & see if you could get a deal on the engine. It had 80,000 miles but is still running GREAT. I dunno if it would be worth it just based on mileage, but the car was well taken care of since 40k at least.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
