I wear Vans. They have a good flat sole on them, and have pretty decent pedal feel and grip. For street shoes, the soles aren't too thick on them either which helps pedal feel. They have fairly square-edged soles too, which work well for heel-and-toe downshifts. I haven't tried purpose-built driving shoes, but these work well as daily-driver shoes, as well as for the occasional track day. Plus, they can be had for ~40% off when the next season's styles come out!
