Anyone who says that 600s are too slow really needs a punch in the sack.
you'll have to come up to michigan to deliver those sack punches to me, stazi, and at least a few of the people i used to work with.

so is it you, or your friends that are fast?

a lot of people who ride seriously know a few racers, and of course these guys are going to be faster than us, even on smaller bikes. thats like me saying i don't want a heavy bicycle, then you calling me out b/c a pro could kick my ass on a heavier bike.
for the street, and for some people who like to go fast in a straight line, bigger bikes are more fun. get over it.

I'm 6'2" and ANY 600 I have sat on gives me SERIOUS wrist pain. They simply are not any good for big riders as you put too much weight on your hands. Plus I feel like an ogre on a rocking horse when I sit on them.
I know a kid with a 250cc Ninja that could probably lap me at Grattan, but I would destroy his ass on the road. It's what you're going to do with the bike that matters.

Unfortunately, the decision will likely be made by who you will be riding w/ the most...sportbikes or cruisers. Whether or not it'll be the best decision w/ your skill level is another question. But there are entry level bikes in either category & it's not like you can't upgrade when you've achieved a higher level...good luck

I wonder if this guy has even come back to read his post with your "advice" about buying a new bike?

If I must. The fact is that it's more fad and fashion. I have nothing against buying big bikes, it's like buying a fast car. But my point is anyone who claims a 600 isn't "fast enough" has no idea what they're talking about. Top speed? Maybe. Comfort? Of course. But my comment was pretty clear: Anyone who claims a modern day 600cc bike is slow is ig'nint.

I'm plenty quick for my experience.

Get a clue. But I'll go with your bicycle analogy: If someone said heavier bikes are stupid and spend more money on a Carbon Fiber framed bike because heavy ones are too slow, I'd say that person is an idiot 'cause it might not be necessary since the heavier bike would probably be plenty for a novice biker. I'm not saying do NOT get it, I'm just making a point that the equipment could be plenty for your skill level.

B!tch please. Point out where I said no one should get a bigger bike? I believe my words were:

We do...this is the humiliation part.
You know...it's not always oily rub-downs. Once again, reality.
Bikes are dangerous & so are other vehicles, take a riders safety course...they should be incorporating evasive techniques for riders encountering teenagers w/ cell phones piloting four wheeled weapons capable of speeds of over 55mph. Not that I'd want to get hit at 15mph.
