Have you been on one of the new 600s? Yeah, he needs slower than that for a first bike. No sense in another squid pasting himself all over the highway.
My cruiser is an 1800, and the first bike I've owned, but not the first I've been on. I used to ride dirt bikes all the time as a kid.

Buell's are slow, but they handle great and sound nice too. Too bad they don't have a V-Twin that loosens everybolt that holds it together, just by running.
