I disagree on that... I agree on the rest, but no way more friend room. Blazers have a tiny backseat that's good for 2 people... you'll be majorly squished with 3 (done that before). Maybe if ya throw 1-2 people in the back, then it's good to go.

I say that seems like a good deal if it runs good. Just keep up on the maintainance and have the steering inspected every now and then and you'll be good to go.

Is it an auto or a stick? 2.5, 2.8, or 4.3L? Carbed or fuel injected? What options (like PW/PL, etc.)? 4WD or 2WD?

IMO, like others, it's a step down, but would be great for a 2nd vehicle, especially if it's four wheel drive. I'm into having creature comforts and "new" feeling/looking stuff in my car. Probly why I wasn't sad to see my old Monte Carlo SS when it went away (wish I had it now though, I was practically stealing it for $2000).

That does look like a nice buy for the price. I know it has to hurt though, you will miss the ride.

At 18, I would have jumped through hoops for a little truck like that. Hard to talk the babes into climbing into the back-end of a Ford P/U along with the spare tire, spent Mountain Dew cans, jettisoned snuff cans, etc. Generally got a lot of these looks -> in return to mine ...

As a side note: Ray & Demon you two continue to impress me. Thanks for spankin that wet nose pup, unfortunate that some see their own good fortune as an invite to pontificate.

look on the bright side its a hell of alot easier to find blazer parts then it is to find contour parts. at least where I live. In the junkyard I go to there is literally a blazer section... there are only 6/7 contour/mystiques and they are stripped to just about body parts.

and just because you can get a loan for $10K doesn't mean you should take the whole loan.

i had a 91 S10 Blazer before i bought my contour at 18. its still our spare car, but has been quite a money pit. in the year and a half i drove it i had to replace all the brakes, the head gasket, door hinges, and thermostat, and spark plug wires. it has high miles (actually hit 200,00 the other day) and is still running decently. we decided to get a blazer because my mom put 265,000 miles on her 89 with her 120 mile daily commute. the biggest repair on that one was a transmission at 180,000. gaskets never even needed to be replaced. she has drive the 4.3 blazers religiously ever since. she's on her 4th a 4.3 and the 2 in between were basically trouble free. watch out for electrical problems however. only one was short free (a 99). the 89 were occasionally activate its own wipers, the 91 would lose all power to the center stack if the cigarette lighter was used, the 97 had a short in the power lumbar and in the alert chime, and the 2002 had a short in the keyless entry about a week after it was delivered. good luck with ur 87.
