Ruger Mark II all the way. I have a stainless steel one with a bull barrel; it's deadly accurate and a scream to shoot.
I'm not knocking the Walther at all, but the Mark II is the .22 pistol to own. There are more aftermarket items for it than you can shake a stick at.
That's one Ruger I'd put a seal of approval on over all others (well, except a 10/22 but that's a carbine and you're looking for a pistol).
First thing you need to buy with it will be clip loaders; you'll eat your thumbs up loading shells into the clips without them.

The Ruger, the Ruger! It is the best .22 semi for the money, hands down. Accurate, reliable, and very well-built. You will never regret it.

that makes no sense. whatsoever. it's legal for you to carry a weapon but not own it?
according to that link you gave, there's nothing about having to be 21 to own a handgun.
Indiana you can carry at 18. The idea is that you cannot purchase a gun for yourself until 21, however "you can carry your father's gun." ie- if someone gives you a gun, you can carry it at 18, but then the implication is that that person will be implicitly responsible for what you do with it.
My father, a part time police officer with a large collection of guns, passed away a month before my 18th birthday. I then applied for my concealed carry permit so that I could possess and carry his guns without worrying about in-depth restrictions.

Sorry, been in both situations and I do get more adrenaline when hunting. Maybe I'm different or what not but that's me.
And I know very little in my 19 years of life, in fact 99% of what I say is probably just opinion, but it works for me. It's ever changing and I do take everything I read/see into consideration. I've stated my position and believe my points to be valid for me. I didn't say you have to agree or that it's right for you.

You'll pay more than you would with the Ruger, but there's a reason that the design has been around for almost a century...it's the most successful pistol design EVER.
I'm still looking into a model 1911. I had my hands on an old military issue 1911 that went overseas. It wasn't for sale But anyways....of the newer makes and models whos making a good model 1911 .45 ?

After 14 years in the Navy and shooting a wide range of handguns, the Ruger is the better deal. with the Glock you are paying for a name, just like Colt, H&K etc. They all have thier good and bad points. Look up past articals out of handgunner magazine on the web I believe it is handgunner.com but I might be wrong. You need to look at why you are buying it and what it is to be used for. Personal protection, sport what ever. I would go with the Ruger .45 with better grips, last I checked $350 with 2 clips and a locking case.
