Kremit,
If you think the adrenaline rush from watching a deer walk up to your blind is even remotely similar to being woken and being presented with a potentially life threatening situation with little or no reaction time, I think you are 100% wrong. I've hunted and while there is a rush, it can't even compare to the adrenaline rush of being presented with even a mildly dangerous situation.

95Sleeper "I feel that you don't own" I do not. the only gun I ever fired was when I was a kid a .22 shot gun and a .38 at a shooting range. I did not like the smoke that got into my eyes.

But you clearly didn't understand the original intent of the person who started this thread, if you posted about getting a Taser when he wanted a pistol to target-shoot with.

95Sleeper "I feel that you don't own" what are you a cop trying to find out who owns what with or without a license?
Next I guess you will be breaking down cegers doors looking for unlicensed arms
beware CEGers 95Sleeper is really a special investigative cop whose assignment is to get posters to reveal that which they should not.

Well iv talked to a few people at work and such and iv narrowed it down to these guns--i know they are different than the first ones... Both are .22 since bullets are cheap for just plenking around.

The little Walther is a fun one but it's small. Feels like an airsoft gun in my hands. The Ruger Mark II is NEVER a bad choice for a .22 semiauto pistol. Been around forever, lots of aftermarket, and there's two factory grip variants and of course the different length and diameter barrels to choose from.

Sorry, Kremit. Scattergun with shot, not slugs is THE best home protection one can get in a firearm, bar none. I don't car how cool you stay and how well your aim is, there's just too many benefits that a wider spray of projectiles will give you.
I'll be honest and say that I don't practice what I preach in this; my handguns are FAR more accessible than my scattergun is (I'll definitely concede the mobility and speed of a handgun over a shotgun), but if I was ever put in a situation where I knew someone was coming in and had a chance to grab the shotgun, I'd be running for the gun safe to get it.
Finally, when deer start shooting back, I'll give a hunter kudos on their abilities under fire and pressure. Unless deer have evolved since the last time I took a buck, I don't think they are too capable in the small arms department.
