here is another quote for

"Walther PPK
Walther PPK (Polizei Pistole Kurz - Short Police Pistol) is a shortened wersion of the Walter PP (polizei Pistole) and differs from it only in size (shorter barrel and grip). Walther PP was presented in 1929, PPK - in 1931 and quickly become wery popular among European police agencies and civilian shooters - both guns were reliable, easy to conceal (especially PPK), but of moderate power (esp. versions in .22LR, 6.35mm auto (.25ACP) and 7.65mm auto). During WW2 those guns were issued to german military police personnel, high military officers and other military personnel.
In fact, PP and PPK were the worlds first successful DA autos. They were (and are) copied and still in production by bot the Crl Walther Sportwaffen gmbh. and other companies.
technically, PP and PPK are blowback operated DA handguns. Both have chamber loaded indicator, external hammer, manual safety and out of battery safety. The manual safety is somewhat odd, because it has to be turned UP to be set to fire position, instead of common down direction.
Both guns deserved good reputation during the decades of use. Especially popular they become as a James Bond (Agent 007) weapon (Walther PPK) in almost all novels and all but the most recent movies, when James Bond switched to more modern Walther pistol - a P99.
Type: Double Action
Caliber: .22LR or 6.35mm auto (.25 ACP) or 7.65x17mm Auto or 9x17mm (.380 ACP)
Length overal 173mm PP, 154 mm PPK
Weight: 682g PP, 568g PPK
Barrel length: 99mm PP, 84mm PPK
Capacity: 8 (PP), 7 (PPK) rounds

Personally I'd rather have the option to take out a knee or shoulder than end his life unecesarily unless i'm being threatened. If thats the case 16 shots anywhere on his body will end that quickly enough. Thats why i've got a S&W 910s in the nightstand.

i very much have to disagree!

buckshot is best for home defense. i suppose you'll want reasons so i'll list them here so you don't have to waste a post (i know how you hate when that happens).

1) wide dispersal pattern
....a) you're frequently in a low light situation
....b) you've likely just waken up
....c) your nerves/adrenaline will make accuracy tough
....d) multiple perps? if they are near each other, bonus!

2) lower projectile speed/low penetration depth
....a) got kids or neighbors that you like? then you probably don't want bullets penetrating through the walls!

i'm sure there are others, but these are all the reasons i need.

Actually you couldda just said it and I wouldn't have cared but, since you insist....

1. YAY, I get to shoot up my house
I'm used to shooting with adrenaline pumping. In the close quarters of a house, buckshot doesn't really have time to spread that much, so unless the guys are hugging, I'd doubt you'd hit two. Actually I'd rather just use a pistol as it would be easier to fire in a house. If I was using a shotgun, it would be because I had time to get it, load it, etc. rather than grab the pistol of the night stand.

2.No kids or neighbors that I care about that much. I'd rather just drop the bad guy.

i'm sure you are.

unless you compete in idpa, you have no idea what it's like to shoot in that kind of situation with a handgun. none.

if i'm shooting from a reasonable range (i.e. 10-21 feet) the dispersal pattern is fine. at worst (10 feet or less) it's only a few inches wide, but that's still a much better margin of error to cover than the 1/2" that a std. slug will.

what "etc" on earth are you talking about?? by that same reasoning, you'd have to load the piston too.

plus, a shotgun is far easier to shoot in defensive situations. you're far more accurate shooting from the hip with a shotgun (especially with buckshot) than you would be with a pistol.

let me rephrase. if you miss the BG, the shot goes through a wall/window/whatever and hits a neighbor, guess who goes to jail? you!!

i'm not trying to slam you, but your age and inexperience are definitely showing here. i haven't met too many gun experts (i.e. gunsmiths, idpa competitors, etc) who don't agree that a shottie with buckshot is by far the best home defense (along with a good dog or two).

Mm...I think guns are bad and they should be banned.

I also want you guys to come check out the Enzo Ferrari that Jenna Jameson just pulled into my driveway with.

Reminds me of a classic Chris Rock line that has some relevance to this thread. Talking about 50 Cent: "That n****'s been shot in the face more times than Jenna Jameson!".

a shotty with slugs is THE WORST possible choice for home defence. 12 gauge slugs will go through all kinds of walls. hell, i can shatter a cinder block with my .40 cal.

when im not at the range, my mags are loaded with federal hydashocks.

Not enough time right now to go through it all, and I'm sure some of your points are valid,,, but a few things.

Hmm, I deer hunt. That's far more adrenaline that a competition (for me anyways), and I thought we were talking about shotguns.

Few inches,, 1/2" ... whatever. I'm confident enough in my shooting abilities that either will do though the slug is better at dropping them. Otherwise, I wouldn't own a fire arm.

Shotgun doesn't fit on the nightstand. A pistol is far easy to grab and fire right away. Even if less accurate, if I shoot 6 times and do it a lot quicker than I could with a shotgun, I'm sure I'll hit something.

My neighbors don't live close enough for that to be even a consideration. And I think that would be up to a court to decide whether I would go to jail anyways for that. In any case, I'm not really thinking about my neighbors when my life/property is being threatened. SORRRY.
