South Dakota its 18 to have a Consealed weapons permit, i got one at 19, its 21 to buy it so i gave my mom 500 and she "bought it" and for reference: http://www.sdsos.gov/firearms/i think everystate is 21 to buy, some are 18 to carry though. mike

that makes no sense. whatsoever. it's legal for you to carry a weapon but not own it? 
according to that link you gave, there's nothing about having to be 21 to own a handgun.

I just found out in MI, you do have to be 21 to apply for a CCW license...oh well 3 more years.

For that kind of shooting situation, I'd go for a fullsize Colt 1911-type frame. I know they're mostly in .45ACP, but if you shop around I know you can find some in 9mm chamberings. You'll pay more than you would with the Ruger, but there's a reason that the design has been around for almost a century...it's the most successful pistol design EVER.

according to that link you gave, there's nothing about having to be 21 to own a handgun.
i could be wrong but i think its like a federal law saying you have to be 21 to purchase a hand gun (in everystate) the state make the laws (state laws) to say what age citizen can have consealed weapons permits to carry them. and that link was just to reference SD state law on Consealed weapons permits, all states vary.
