I try to stay away from glocks like the plague, as a disproportionate number of them seem to explode.

I stick with a trusty Colt .38 Super (though early versions of this gun had problems of their own).

I bought my wife a 232SL to graduate her from a .22. Out of the box it's the best gun I've ever shot. Yes, it's a .380, but I can hit all day long with it under 20 yards without trying. I had the tritium sights and the molded Pachmayr-like grips ordered on the gun; I could do without the night-sights but the grips simply made the gun.

The only other gun I have that's easier to carry and shoot is a custom S&W Model 13 .38. With a pull that's just under 4 pounds, it's just a touch better than the 232, but again the 232 is factory.

So do I though I own neither.

I have shot & cleaned many versions of both and the Ruger's have always seemed like a much better built weapon. They definitely win the durability test IMO.

I own a Beretta .40 Model 96.

It is a very accurate model and the price was decent for a nice quality gun. I've had it for 11 years and bought it for protection when I was stationed in Southern New Mexico.

I take it out about once a year to stay proficient. No sense owning a weapon you are not capable of handling correctly.

The wife always comes with me to stay proficient as well. She shot double marksman in the Military even. (pistol & rifle)
I only had the cert on the rifle and shot marksman as well.

How much are you wanting to pay for the Ruger??I have a nearly new P89DC(9mm),I may sell. It was my first Law Enforcement gun. I qualified with it and carried it for a few years when I worked part time. I've never had an issue with it. I now carry a Glock 22 and 27,and they are very reliable,I bet my life on them everyday. I agree with you guys on the Sigs,my brother(also a cop) has the 9mm.(229?)and it is sweet. They are very expensive though. I fell in love with my newly issued gun last Wed.I recently made the SWAT team and qualified with an H&K UMP .45 sub machine gun. This thing is butter! I get my AR-15 next week.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

Thats whats so beautiful about this country, there doesn't have to be "a point."

Exactly.

But stuff like this can also lead to incidents such as Columbine, i know anyone in my highschool could walkin with some guns and no one would be the wiser. Kinda frightening to think about sometimes.

Complete [censored]! Poor parenting is what didn't prevent Columbine.

An 80 year old man killed 8 when he drove thru a street market. Should we take all cars off the road?

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

that's horsecrap. the only time they seem to KB is when people use homemade ammo...

i know myself and literally dozens of people (including how many police forces?) who have shot thousands and thousands of rounds of factory ammo with nary a problem.

way to spread bs rumors.
