When I buy another pistol it's gonna be at least a 40cal. The 9mm just doesn't pack enough wallop, and my .357Mag revolver is way to bulky.
I'd buy a PPK or Glock any day, although Ruger is not bad. My 357 is a Ruger.
I miss my .25 Beretta Semi-auto. It was a nice small gun, but realistically it's too small unless you are a really good shot and can ensure a head shot every time.

My plan is to get a 9mm for target shoot because of the cheap ammo and they aregreat to hone your skills on. But 45 will be my weapon of choice for potection. 40 cal feels odd to me.

The problem with America is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment
for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

that's horsecrap. the only time they seem to KB is when people use homemade ammo...
i know myself and literally dozens of people (including how many police forces?) who have shot thousands and thousands of rounds of factory ammo with nary a problem.
way to spread bs rumors.
Glocks are under-built. The odds of one blowing up on tame factory ammo are slim to none, but I prefer an over-built Ruger. My Redhawk can take a pounding, and people shoot tens of thousands of super-hot ammo through those guns without failure. A gun should not fail if loaded to within specs- ever. The ammo that blows up glocks it usually within specs. It's hotter than the factory, but it is still by the book.
Yes, Glocks blow up rarely, but they are NOT a strong gun. They fire every time on factory ammo That is their selling point: going off when you need it. Reliability and strength are not euqal. Rugers are known for being strong and well-built. Fire 10,000 factory rounds though each, and the Glock will fail less. Fire 10,000 hot rounds at the limit of SAAMI/ANSI specs, and the Glock has a better chance of catastrophic failure, even though it may fire and eject every round perfectly.

i agree about the 9mm for target. 100 rounds of winchester is only @ $10.00 at walmart. but... in my opinion, you should spend the most time shooting what you plan on using for protection. the difference in calibers, ammo, and frame size will make one gun shoot entirely different than another.
personally, i like 9mm for protection. if 11 rounds of +P hydra-shocks don't stop them, i have bigger problems!!

sorry, but for personal protection, i'll take the gun that goes bang EVERY time you pull the trigger.
also, if you're intent on shooting thousands of super hot handloads, then there is no reason you couldn't have your glock hot-rodded by someone like glockmeister (the same goes for any gun that sees a lot of hot handloads). now i'm not knocking ruger or saying that it isn't more reliable, but this glock KB business is just hooey. (btw... i don't even currently own a glock).

Eh, I missed the self-protection part. The only self-defence I eve think about is in my home, and I have a very reliable gun for that: My 870 Express Turkey model. Short barrel, and loaded with 1 5/8 oz of Heavi-Shot in 3" shells. Turkeys at 50 yards? No problem. Scumbag at 10 yards? Big [censored]' hole in the chest. Pistols are just fun and hunting weapons for me.

definitely 21. i dont even know of any states where you can purchase a handgun if you are under 21, let alone conceal it.
check out packing.org. tons of info there.

I have a difficult time justifying anything but a .45 for myself. They aren't too bulky, they are proven, and they fit me like a glove.
For personal/home protection, give me a shotgun, or better yet a dog or two over any handgun made.

But hey, it's your life so live it.
Thats whats so beautiful about this country, there doesn't have to be "a point."
True, their can be a hollow area on the front of the bullet.
