Outside of their Mark II .22 pistols and the 6-shooters (I love the Blackhawk as it's an absolute tank but easy to hold and shoot), I've never held or shot a Ruger pistol I liked. Their autos just don't feel natural in my hand. Build-quality seems fine from the limited experience I have with them and the "feel" of a gun is an entirely subjective thing...

FWIW, I can't stand Glocks in that I haven't found one that feels "right", either.

I'm a confirmed Sig Sauer biggot and the 228 I have is the best 9mm I've wrapped my hands around. I have a Beretta 92F that hardly ever sees any action at the range due to the Sig being such a solid handgun. The problem with Sigs is the price; they are usually on the higher-end of the equation. It's not like sinking money into a Colt Gold Cup or a comp'd Kimber, but they definitely aren't bargains.

Whoever said go to a range and shoot a smattering of handguns is spot-on. That's the ONLY way to figure out what to get.
