Actually, there's a long-standing agreement between the two counties for protection. Here's a good quote on the subject:

"Canada's leaders also reasoned that - given Canada's geography - only great powers could threaten this country, and only great powers could defend it. Canada, on this logic, could best defend itself through alliances with powerful protectors whose own military interests included the defence of Canada."

Do you happen to realize the number of Canadians who live over there, yet drive hours a day to work in the US? Most do it because of better wages, equal treatment, and insurance. (Yup, Canadians who've had to live thru the socialist medical nightmare prefer having US insurance.)

Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of Canadian friends, and I visit now and then. But, I've also lived on both the Northern and Southern borders while in MI and TX. I can tell you that we've got a far more open border to the North, yet everyone wants to [censored] and moan telling us to secure the Southern border. I say if we're going to secure the borders, we better damn well do both.
